Starting on the evening of Friday 7th August, the Order of Preachers celebrates our Holy Father St. Dominic (Domingo Guzman, 1170-1221). A gentle, retiring soul, God drew him into the vocation of a preacher through his compassion for the Cathars, dissidents who had fallen off the edge of the Church. His spirit of poverty, wise knowledge and merciful temperament drew many of them back to the fullness of Communion. May he intercede for our preaching of God’s mercy today!
